A neighborhood sought after for its convenience

Somerset Village is a walkable community with direct access to trendy restaurants and public green spaces. The neighborhood has a mix of condos, townhouses and single-family homes that meet the needs of energetic and professional residents. “It’s an interesting mix of grad students and up,” says Realtor Chris Betts, who sells homes with RE/Max Real Estate Center. He adds that the neighborhood is far enough from Iowa State University that there aren’t noisy college parties. “It’s a cool little development that’s known for being super accessible,” Betts says.

The streets are lined with sidewalks lit by lamps, and most of the residences are apartments. Almost all the properties were built from the early 2000s through the early 2010s, and the median home price is roughly $370,000. Single-family homes range from $300,000 to $670,000, while townhouses and condos range from $75,000 to $450,000. “With the access to amenities, the properties increase in value a little quicker,” Betts says. “The lots are a little bit smaller typically, and you pay just a little bit more for them.” Trains run along the neighborhood’s eastern border.
