Jester’s HOAs plan and organize events throughout the year, including a Halloween parade at the Jester Club, one of the community’s parks. Santa on the Fire Truck rings in the holiday season, with a bouncy house and plenty of baked goods and drinks. Residents also participate in neighborhood cleanup initiatives and charity drives organized by the Jester Cares committee.
Hill Elementary is a National Blue Ribbon School
Jester is part of the Austin Independent School District. Hill Elementary School is a National Blue Ribbon School, a recognition given to schools for academic excellence, and boasts an A grade from Niche. Kids at Hill Elementary can take the Foreign Language Experience Program to become bilingual at an early age. A-minus-rated Murchison Middle School is an International Baccalaureate World School and offers six fine arts programs. Anderson High School also has an A rating and offers dual credit classes in partnership with Austin Community College.

Along with several community parks in Jester, the community is surrounded by municipal parks, trailheads and wildness preserves. Some subdivisions are within walking distance of Bull Creek District Park, part of the Greenbelt, which spans over 48 acres with walking trails and access to Bull Creek. Emma Long Metropolitan Park, about 7 miles from Jester, has miles of nature trails along Lake Austin. The park has a beach area for lake swimming and there are also boat ramps for kayaking, paddle boarding or fishing on the lake. Lakeside dining at County Line on the Lake
Though Jester may feel secluded, it’s close to shopping and dining. The Jester Village Shopping Center is at the end of Jester Boulevard, near the entrance to the community, and has several shops and restaurants like Catrina’s, which serves Tex-Mex cuisine, and Red Lotus Asian Grille. County Line on the Lake is a few miles away from the neighborhood along Bull Creek. In addition to the filling plates of Texas barbecue, the restaurant also has an outdoor patio space and occasionally has live music. H-E-B is about 5 miles away, accessible via 2222. Residents are also a few miles away from retail shopping in the Gateway Shopping Centers, which has everything from Whole Foods to Saks Off 5th. More shopping and dining are a short drive away on Loop 360, including The Arboretum and The Domain, with over 100 stores and restaurants.

Several highways connect to the Austin metro area
Like most neighborhoods on the outskirts of Austin, a car is necessary to get around. Public transit through Austin’s CapMetro bus is available, but it’s a few miles from the neighborhood. 2222 leads to the MoPac Expressway and downtown Austin, which is less than 15 miles away. Medical care is nearby at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and Seton Northwest Hospital. Jester is also close to Loop 360/Capital of Texas Highway.
