Secluded living in the Front Range
Pine trees line the quiet, dirt lanes of Seven Hills, a secluded community in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Instead of traffic, the sound of chickadees and swallows provide the chorus of daily life here, while the active atmosphere of downtown Boulder is just a 5-minute drive away. “We call these communities the “close-in mountains,”” says Andy Burgess, a real estate broker with Compass. “It feels like you’re far away from city life, but downtown is just down the road.”
Seven Hills offers secluded hillside living surrounded by lush forests and natural beauty.

The Bald Mountain Scenic Area is accessible from Sunshine Canyon Drive, where hikers can take the 1-mile loop trail for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Lion’s Lair, named for the area’s known mountain lion activity, is a 3-mile hiking trail that winds through ponderosa forests to the summit of Mount Sanitas. The Fourmile Link trail is popular among mountain bikers and passes over flowing creeks through the mountainside.

Mountainside Homes
It’s rare to find a home in the community listed for less than $1 million due to the expansive lot sizes, luxury homes and views of the Boulder Valley below. “It’s a mountain-living community here,” Burgess says. “Pine forests and ridgeline views are a feature of nearly every home.” Properties range from 1 to 30 acres and are thickly adorned with pine trees. “It’s definitely a private area, but there’s still a solid sense of community in Seven Hills,” says Burgess. “Along with the public hiking trails nearby, locals maintain social trails where folks walk their dogs and enjoy quiet hikes. And when the winter snows come, the county plows 100% of the neighborhood’s dirt and gravel roads.”
Log cabins and mid-century-modern architecture are common throughout this tucked-away neighborhood. Large windows and expansive porches and patios allow for optimal enjoyment of the area’s mountain views. Horse owners are attracted to Seven Hills, which features large, equestrian-friendly properties on the neighborhood’s northwest end. Two-bedroom fixer-uppers on 1-acre lots can be listed between $700,000 and $850,000, while luxurious, recently renovated 5,000-square foot homes with over 15 acres are listed between $2 million and $4 million.
