Quiet suburbia still connected to downtown
Unsurprisingly on the east side of Columbus, the Eastmoor neighborhood offers a diverse environment where residents feel they belong. “Eastmoor has families and individuals of various ages, religions, heritage and economic positions,” Realtor Remington Lyman of ReafCo says. “It’s like a melting pot that represents the different walks of life in Columbus’ east side.” The friendliness between neighbors adds to the area's overall tranquil atmosphere. Commuters can easily reach downtown for work but escape the busyness at the end of the day without losing city conveniences.

Dining along East Broad and East Main
The thoroughfares of East Broad and East Main are the neighborhood's commercial hubs. Featuring a mix of restaurants, shops and professional services, residents can find most of what they need without heading downtown. Groceries are a breeze with Kroger in the north and Walmart and Aldi in the south. For more locally sourced goods, Bexley Farmers Market is 1-1/2 miles west and runs every Thursday from May to October. Scotty's Cafe is the neighborhood's pick for a laidback breakfast, but if the tables are full (which they usually are), locals head to Stav's Diner next door. Either one leaves customers' bellies full and happy. When the evening rolls around, The Top Steak House is a popular fining dining and date night spot because of its craft cocktails and live music. For a more relaxed experience, Blu Note Jazz Cafe mellows out its customers with familiar bar bites and soulful rhythms. Town and Country Shopping Center is the one-stop shop for retail shopping with stores like Ross, Shopper's World and Dollar Tree.

Architectural diversity preserved by civic association
One of nine Columbus neighborhoods on the National Road, Eastmoor's late 18th-century origins contribute to the area’s various architectural styles. Lyman says, “There’s lots of 1920s mansions and historic apartment buildings, so you sort of get an interesting mix of residences.” Mid-century ranchers, Colonials, bungalows, Cape Cods, and post-war Lustron and Gunnison houses are among the design styles available to home buyers. A few multi-family units and luxury condos have also made an appearance. Single-family homes and duplexes cost between $130,000 and $300,000, but newer builds sell between $450,000 and $500,000. Lyman shares that the streets are lined with wide front lawns, mature trees and decorative streetlights that guide locals’ paths during evening strolls. The neighborhood is maintained by The Eastmoor Civic Association, and anyone who lives or works within the neighborhood is considered a member.

Swimming laps at Eastmoor South Recreation Park
There are quite a few green spaces in and around Eastmoor. Little league football is a popular pastime at Johnson Memorial Park. At Barnett Community Center across the street, kids can run around the splash pad on hot, sunny days or take after-school fitness and dance classes. Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Barnett Branch is right next door, as well. Brownlee Park to the west is a quiet place to stop and enjoy the shade during lunchtime. Residents can be seen walking their dogs around the area or jogging by. During the summer, one spot is the highlight of the neighborhood; Lyman shares, “One really nice attraction is the Eastmoor swim club, which is an outdoor pool with different membership options. A lot of people go there.” Officially called the Eastmoor South Recreation Park, the swim club has been around since 1956. Visitors can join the swim team (go, Swordfish!), take swimming lessons and participate in community events, from charity concerts to car washes.
Kids can run around the Blue Jackets hockey themed playground at Barnett Community Center.
