Small established homes make up much of the housing, highlighted by contemporary remodels and a collection of Spanish-influenced shotgun-style homes whose red terra cotta roofs stand out along the neighborhood streets. The area’s public schools are run by the Long Beach Unified School District. The district does allow school choice, so families have options if they want to send their children to schools outside the neighborhood area. Default schools for the neighborhood include Dooley Elementary, which has a B-grade on Niche, and Jordan High School which has a B-minus grade. Sutter is home to C. David Molina Park, which opened in 2018 and features a synthetic turf playing field and a universally accessible playground. Just outside the park, the Los Angeles River Bike Trail runs south to the Long Beach waterfront and north all the way to Central LA. As for commuting in and out of the neighborhood and traveling through greater Los Angeles, the nearby 710 freeway can be conveniently accessed on both the north and south sides of the neighborhood. In addition, the 405 can be accessed directly from the 710 just 3 miles south. For those taking public transportation, Metro Rail Lines can be accessed nearby via the 710 and a short drive away at the Willow Street Station in North Wrigley. A number of bus routes have stops along Long Beach Boulevard, offering direct connections to north and central Long Beach. The neighborhood is just a 5-mile drive from Long Beach Airport, which has regular flights to 27 locations across the country, while LAX is less than 20 miles away via highway — though freeway traffic can get a little hairy during rush hour.
