Spanish homes and colorful bungalows
Small established homes make up much of the housing, highlighted by contemporary remodels and a collection of Spanish-influenced shotgun-style homes whose red terra cotta roofs stand out along the neighborhood streets. Colorful bungalows also can be found. Larger multi-level homes featuring garages are standard in the gated community of Riverdale, which features a pool among its amenities. The streets in Sutter are lined with mature trees, which contribute to the area's aesthetic and offer much-needed shade in the warmer months. Single-family homes typically list between the low $500,000s and the low $900,000s. “It’s a medium-priced neighborhood by California standards,” says Michael Robinson, who has been selling real estate in Long Beach since 1977. “ The affordability of the area is the driving factor for residents.”
