Locals attest to Mason's close-knit community

The city of Mason is the focal point of Ingham County and offers its residents a family-friendly farm environment, which is a significant aspect of its identity. The city’s motto, “Where you want to be local” is a testament to the culture of this community. “I may be a little partial, being born and raised here, but the entire county has really desirable pockets,” says Brian Ozbun, a Realtor with Bellabay Realty, LLC. “Mason, the county seat, is a very sought-after area,” Ozbun says. “It just has a close-knit community feel.”

Downtown Mason is walkable

Maple Street Mall and Simply Vintage Marketplace LLC stand as the premier destinations for those in search of pre-loved finds. Downtown also features gift shops such as CoCo Blue and Kean’s, offering a diverse array of thoughtful presents and greeting cards. Rayner Park allows pets and people to enjoy the outdoors

The green spaces are abundant in Mason. Rayner Park, sprawling across 60 acres, offers a diverse range of recreational amenities. The park boasts sports facilities such as a soccer field and tennis and baseball courts. It also features a nine-hole disc golf course and hiking trails for those seeking outdoor adventure. The whimsically castle-themed playground has transformed many a child into a heroic knight, brave princess or ferocious dragon. Horseshoe pits add a social and competitive element to the park experience. Three ponds provide opportunities for catch-and-release fishing. For those seeking adrenaline-fueled activities, Bond Skatepark offers not only a space for skateboarders, but also features a 12,000-square-foot roller hockey rink. In addition to the green spaces, the Ingham County Fairgrounds continue the time-honored tradition of summertime fair food, carnival rides and livestock shows, filling a nostalgic week of community pride. Mason residents commute along U.S. Route 127

Long stretches of grasslands and woodlands border these main thoroughfares, including U.S. Route 127 and Michigan Highway 36 (M-36), giving it a rural feel. Because of the rural nature of the community, residents primarily rely on personal vehicles to navigate the area.
