Once the home of Colonial-era revolutionary Daniel Shays, today, Pelham is known as a quiet town that's popular with folks who want to live in the woods. "It's a great place to retire," says Tim O'Brien, Senior Director of Communications for WD Cowls, Inc. and lifelong Massachusetts resident. "And outdoor enthusiasts really enjoy Pelham." The town's sense of history is deep-seated, down to the buildings in the center of town. Pelham's Old Meeting House has been in use since 1743, making it the longest-used town hall in the country. The fall town meeting is still held in the historic building. For a homebuyer looking for a quiet community, Pelham has plenty to offer. There is precious little traffic, a fun sense of history and a friendly atmosphere that also leaves room for privacy in this woodsy New England. Between that and the trees, Pelham is an option worth considering.
Houses tucked away

Pelham's homes are scattered through the forested landscape, many tucked off the road and hidden by trees. You'll also spot gable-roofed colonials and Cape Cods on large lots, some with additions to expand the living space.
