A small neighborhood 5 miles from Richmond's heart
Deerbourne has all the makings of a classic American suburb. The small neighborhood comprises sturdy homes, close-quartered yards and a dynamic community center with robust programs. And most essentially, it's quiet and friendly. Residents are drawn to the community's desirable price points, which sit lower than many neighborhoods in Richmond, leading to an in-demand housing market.

Ranch-styles from the 1960s
Deerbourne Residents live in 1960s ranch-style homes that typically feature between 1,100 and 1,500 square feet with three bedrooms. These houses sit on quarter-acre lots with well-tended lawns and simple, tidy landscaping. Long side yard driveways lead to detached garages or carports that fit multiple cars, along with plenty of available street parking. Homes typically cost between $200,000 and $300,000. "When homes in this part of town are ready to go and updated, there is high demand," says Issac Abdelmalak, Realtor at Virginia Capital Realty. "In that case, they only last for a few days on the market." The comparatively lower price points to other parts of Richmond, coupled with low inventory, have led to high demand. According to Abdelmalak, multiple offers are common on homes in this area.
