Housing varies from 1920s historic homes to new construction
The majority of Oakwood's homes were built in the early 1900s, and National-style bungalows and two-story homes are common. “The character of the old buildings is very attractive. It’s so unique there. This is a very old section of Richmond,” says Dawn Roy, who’s sold homes in the area for 13 years and is a broker associate with Family Tree Realty Group. It’s common to see homes with yards here, and some have detached garages. You can also find new construction homes inspired by the surrounding architecture. Townhouses and condos are also available, and many of these are used as rentals.
