Locals are close to VCU, landmarks and parks
On the West End of Richmond lies Randolph, a residential neighborhood offering convenience to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), city landmarks and eclectic eateries. "There's a mixture of people who live in Randolph. VCU students tend to stay after graduation and gravitate to the area. But it's also family-friendly because of the walkable areas with ice cream shops and restaurants. The neighborhood has a lot of amenities," says Fernando Nero, a Richmond native and Realtor with 1st Class Real Estate RVA. The neighborhood is named after Virginia E. Randolph, an African American educator in Henrico County during the 19th century.
An array of urban green spaces neighboring Randolph
Central to the neighborhood is the Randolph Community Center, which offers programs and a full slate of recreational amenities. Next door lies Petronius S. Jones Park, an urban green space home to the Birdhouse Farmers Market. Hollywood Cemetery, a walkable go-to attraction for Richmond residents and tourists, touches the eastern side. Along the James River lies the Maymont property, a 100-acre Victorian estate gifted as a public space by its former owners, James and Sallie Dooley. Locals often visit the charming estate for its nature center, botanical gardens and interactive animal farm."Randolph is also very close to Byrd Park. People like to feed the ducks and use the tennis courts and walking trails," Nero says. The expansive 287-acre space showcases three lakes and a dog park. The onsite Dogwood Dell amphitheater invites locals to community events, like the Festival of the Arts, a summer series of performances, concerts and art exhibits.

Large, new traditional houses and colonial influences are prominent among the variety of single-family homes in Randolph. The neighborhood also features traditional split levels and an array of smaller, cozy homes that include simple ranch styles. Home prices in Randolph average between $250,000 and $450,000.
Residents shop and dine nearby
Locals head just outside the community for grocery shopping and dining. The Fan, a neighboring community, is among the most popular urban communities for its eclectic array of restaurants. Just north awaits a vast selection of eateries concentrated along Main and Broad Streets. "Randolph is within walking distance of Main Street and Carytown. There are tons of bars and lots of different cuisines, like Indian foods and sushi. And Bovine Burgers is really good," Nero says. Shoppers can also head to ALDI or Whole Foods Market, about 2 miles away.

Teens are likely to graduate from the historic halls of Thomas Jefferson High. The school has a B grade from Niche and offers IB programs and a Future Center for college prep. The nearby VCU Monroe Park Campus blends well into Richmond's urban backdrop. The campus hosts most of the university's undergraduate programs.
