A suburban community next to lush greenery
Battle Creek is a suburban community in St. Paul with a mosaic of Minnesotan woodlands, waterways and prairie as its back yard. Residents have unmatched access to Battle Creek Regional Park, a sprawling green space that borders the southern edge of the neighborhood. Within the community, the streets are lined with midcentury homes, mature trees and lush, landscaped lawns. “People are definitely taking advantage of the park,” says Realtor Garth Dahl of Keller Williams Realty, a longtime resident of the area. “It’s also an absolutely perfect location for getting anywhere in the east side of St. Paul.”

Residents enjoy mountain biking trails, large playgrounds and an off-leash dog park, while paved bicycle trails twist and turn alongside the creek itself. During the summer months, locals cool off at Battle Creek Waterworks Water Park, which features several splash pads and a three-story waterslide. Sledding hills and cross-country skiing trails offer plenty of wintertime activities. For indoor sports and exercise, residents can check out Battle Creek Recreation Center. Just south of Battle Creek is Pigs Eye Lake, a hiking and birdwatching area that’s known as one of the Midwest’s largest urban egret and heron rookeries. There’s an archery range and hiking trails beside the 500-acre lake that was formerly a landfill.
