A Mobile County community with rural residences and a growing commercial hub
Tillmans Corner is a growing suburb that offers a little more quiet than the communities closer to downtown Mobile. "I live here, and if I have a client who wants country-style living with a family-oriented feel, this is where I bring them," says resident and Realtor Hanna Rudzinsky with PropTek LLC. Though rural, Tillmans Corner is close to important Mobile County attractions. "We're about 10 minutes up the road from major commercial areas and entertainment spaces like TopGolf," Rudzinsky says. We're also about 10 to 15 minutes from Mobile Bay and about 20 minutes from some of the Gulf's best beaches." With its position on Interstate 10, locals have easy access to employers in Mobile and across Mobile Bay in Baldwin County.
Close to Mobile's riverfront industrial area and Bayou La Batre
The most common industries Tillmans Corner residents work in are manufacturing, construction, retail and food service. Mobile's riverfront industrial area is an important economic area, home to several aerospace, chemical, steel, oil and gas manufacturing companies. The community is 30 miles from Bayou La Batre, the state's largest fishing and seafood manufacturing port.
A mix of 20th century homes on rural lots and new construction
The median sale price of homes in Tillmans Corner is $225,000, a little more than half the national median sale price. Like many of Mobile's suburbs, the community is comprised of modest single-family homes built in the mid-to-late 20th century on lots shaded by large pine, oak and magnolia trees. "This is an established neighborhood, and most subdivisions here don't have HOAs, so it's more budget-friendly than some surrounding communities," says Rudzinsky. There is occasionally some new construction in the community, Rudzinsky notes, but most dwellings in this generational area are older homes that have stayed in families for a long time.

Students can apply to the district's magnet programs, such as the Barton Academy. This school was established in 1836 as Alabama's first public school. Now, the school serves grades six through nine and uses project-based learning to help students learn fine arts, languages and global studies topics.

Close to Mobile County's commercial hot spots
Tillmans Corner sits near a major commercial area centered around Government Boulevard. The area contains grocery stores, chain restaurants, small businesses and big box stores. "We're also building a new logistical park here in Tillmans Corner that has and will continue to bring new business to the area," Rudzinsky says. "So, the community isn't just growing in terms of residential size, but on the commercial side too." About 9 miles north on Schillinger Road, there are more chain retailers and restaurants. Downtown Mobile's bustling dining, retail and entertainment scene is about 12 miles from the community.
