A team of Chicago agents announced a jump from Compass this week after nearly five years to Compass’ newly acquired subsidiary, Sotheby’s International Realty.
The Rubina Bokhari Luxury Group founder, Rubina Bokhari, said the move had not been in the works long, but rather, presented itself at an opportune time. It’s a return for Bokhari, who joined Sotheby’s initially in 2017 and left for Compass in 2021.
The agent said Sotheby’s allows the group to strengthen its international real estate specialty. The team of five has amassed $60 million in sales volume so far this year, according to Bokhari. The team includes agents Azin Amiran, Daisy Mazariegos, Olivia Stohle and Hatis Akbudak.
“Our team is proudly international: Azin is from Iran, Daisy from Guatemala, Hatis from Turkey, Olivia from Chicago and I’m from Pakistan and Iran,” Bokhari told Homes.com in an emailed statement. “Sotheby’s global reach and commitment to elevated service make it the perfect home for who we are and how we serve our clients.”
Sotheby’s was one of the brokerages included in Compass’ September acquisition of Anywhere Real Estate, a consolidation that thrust the two newly combined companies to an enterprise value of about $10 billion. Compass is the industry’s largest brokerage, according to data from RealTrends.
“When Compass acquired Anywhere Real Estate, it opened the door for us to move toward the international side of the business — a space that feels more aligned with who we are as a team,” said Bokhari. “The acquisition also made the decision easier, knowing we’d remain connected to the broader Compass network while expanding what we can offer our clients. It truly feels like the best of both worlds.”
Bokhari recently represented clients on a $5.1 million single-family home sale in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood this past August. Some of the team’s current listings include a $2.19 million new build in Bucktown and a $2.67 million condo in the St. Regis, Chicago’s third-tallest building.
Anywhere’s other brokerage brands include Coldwell Banker, Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate, Century 21, Corcoran and ERA Real Estate. Compass is known for its acquisition strategy, and it previously picked up Chicago-based brokerage @properties Christie’s International Real Estate and other smaller independent brokerages nationally.
