Turns out, Nēv Schulman can do more than help friends track down impostors on the internet.

The host of MTV's show "Catfish" is joining New York City real estate brokerage Coldwell Banker Warburg as an agent, the company said Thursday. Schulman is a New York City native and father of three who brings social media, media production and entertainment industry experience to the brokerage, CBW said.

The brokerage noted that Schulman's father — Robert Schulman — has been an employee there for over 30 years.

"Beyond his career in television and his strong branding expertise, Nēv brings creativity that makes him a natural fit for real estate," Kevelyn Guzman, regional vice president for Coldwell Banker Warburg, said in a statement. "We’re especially proud that he chose CBW as the place to begin this next chapter, and we’re excited to support him as he channels his vision into helping clients find their place in New York."

"Catfish" is a reality series where Nēv Schulman explores the potential dangers of online dating. The show typically includes a guest reaching out to Schulman for help locating a romantic partner that the guest has never met in person. Schulman has been the host since the show began in 2012.

Schulman said some of the skills he used on the show will easily translate to selling real estate.

"Hosting 'Catfish' taught me how to listen deeply, build trust quickly and help people navigate some of the most emotional decisions of their lives," he said in a statement. "Real estate in New York is no different. You need empathy, patience and the ability to see through the noise to find the right home."

CBW launched in January 2022 when Coldwell Banker bought Warburg Realty. Before that move, Warburg was one of Manhattan's oldest residential real estate firms, having first opened its doors in 1896. Coldwell Banker's parent company is Anywhere Real Estate, which also owns Century 21, The Corcoran Group and Sotheby's International Realty.

Schulman said he joined CBW partly because the company "shares the same values of integrity and personal connection that I grew up admiring."

"After watching my father dedicate more than 50 years to this business, it feels meaningful to follow in his footsteps and join Coldwell Banker Warburg," he said.

Schulman is the latest agent hire to CBW with ties to television shows. Abigail Godfrey, a South Carolina native and former cast member of Netflix reality show "Selling the City," joined the company last month.
