M/I Homes plans to build 42 townhomes in Lincolnshire, Illinois, 34 miles north of Chicago.
The Columbus, Ohio-based company said Thursday that land development would begin this month, with sales starting in the fall for the development called The Townes at Barclay. M/I Homes purchased the 6.2-acre lot in June, according to public records.
The development is planned for the northeast corner of Aptakisic Road and Barclay Boulevard, filling open land and replacing two single-family homes and a commercial garage.
The parcel is primarily surrounded by commercial centers and neighbors a small collection of residential homes, with proximity to restaurants and main roadways. It’s situated 4 miles away from the Lake County Forest Preserves.
“And despite being surrounded by so many conveniences, The Townes at Barclay will feel very private and quiet thanks to its smaller scale and dedicated green space. It will be a terrific new-construction option for those seeking the lifestyle this area offers,” Rick Champine, area president of M/I Homes, said in a statement.
M/I Homes intends to build the 42 townhouses in its new Revival Series design. Buyers can choose from four floor plans for two-story homes between 1,991 and 2,436 square feet, with three to four bedrooms and two and one-half bathrooms. One plan will include a first-floor primary suite, and all homes include a full basement.
The builder said this is only the second development in Chicagoland featuring the Revival Series design. The first is an underway project of 64 townhouses in Naperville called Northwoods of Naperville. Those attached homes are priced between $700,000 and $900,000. The median townhouse sale price in Lincolnshire is $639,800, according to Homes.com.
The townhouses are set to have new M/I exterior designs with white board-and-batten siding and wood-tone beams.
