After four months at rival brokerage Compass, Nikol Solares has returned to Douglas Elliman in South Florida as an executive vice president in charge of sales and strategy.

Compass appointed Solares as a senior managing director following a seven-year tenure at Elliman. As Elliman's senior vice president of sales and marketing, she oversaw more than $2 billion in luxury South Florida residential developments, including Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach; The Standard Midtown; and Edition Residences Miami Edgewater.

"During my time away, I gained valuable perspective, but I found myself continuously drawn back to the strength of this team and the caliber of leadership," Solares said in an email. "Douglas Elliman has an unparalleled depth of knowledge and is, without question, the premier brokerage in new development marketing and sales."

She has more than two decades of real estate experience, specializing in luxury properties and new developments across the Miami metropolitan area. In the new role, Solares will be based in Miami and focus on strategic initiatives and growth opportunities.

"My goal is to align our sales vision with market trends and to further strengthen our reputation as the leader in luxury development marketing," she said.

High-end buyers still drawn to 'Florida's unique value proposition'

The upper end of the housing market appears resilient, industry observers say, and buyers of high-end homes often pay cash. Still, analysts are bracing for an economic downturn that could affect real estate projects across the nation.

But Solares said domestic and international buyers are drawn to what she calls "Florida’s unique value proposition," one that includes exceptional weather and no state income tax.

"While no market is truly recession-proof, South Florida has proved time and again its ability to outperform and adapt, making it one of the most attractive and resilient luxury markets in the world," she said.

When she's not working, she's outdoors or cooking

Fluent in English and Spanish, Solares said her free time revolves around boating, cycling and other outdoor pursuits with her daughter. She's also into pickleball, tennis, cooking and trying new restaurants.

"I also really enjoy entertaining at home and cooking for family and friends," she said. "There’s something special about bringing people together over a great meal."
