Disney is putting its stamp on the first phase of Asteria, a neighborhood with up to 4,000 homes in Pittsboro, North Carolina. It’s the entertainment giant’s second-largest master-planned residential project in the U.S., part of the 27,000-home Chatham Park development.

Pittsboro officials approved a permit for the first 494 homes in Asteria last summer, and sales are set to begin in 2027. Residents of the mix of single-family, duplex, townhouse and quadplex units will have the option to join an on-site club with “Disney-themed games and activities, storytelling dinners inspired by classic Disney tales and classes with Disney artists,” the company said in a statement.

Arizona-based DMB Development, which is collaborating with Disney on the project, has not identified individual homebuilders yet for Asteria. Some of the builders involved elsewhere in Chatham Park are David Weekley Homes, Homes by Dickerson, Tri Pointe Homes, Upright Builders and Wagoner Homes.

Preston Development Co., Chatham Park’s developer, says the overall size of the project is 8,500 acres. It will include 22 million square feet of office, research, retail, and community space, according to the Chatham County Economic Development Corp., 2,000 acres of parks and access to the Haw River.

Disney previously collaborated with DMB on a similar development in Rancho Mirage, California, called Cotino.
