The Chicks once crooned for a cowboy to take them away, and for one rancher, this was the spot where he escaped with his wife for years.
Now, they're looking to ride off for good.
Kent Storer, a business owner and recreational cowboy, and his wife, Rainy Storer, have owned the vacation home at 14051 Deerfield Road in McCall, Idaho, since 2022. The 3,673-square-foot cabin sits on nearly 9 acres and has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a stable and a shed. They listed the cabin for $2.99 million.
About a two-hour drive outside the state capital, Boise, McCall serves as a popular getaway. Visitors treat themselves to the outdoors here, with a range of golf courses, lake activities and mountains.

"You’re so secluded," Kent said. "If anyone wants to get out, look at nature, enjoy outdoor sports from fishing to hiking, this is the place to go."
The Storer family bought the cabin in late 2022 and spent nearly two years renovating it. The duo opted for an open floor plan and relied on local artisans for Craftsman-style touches, including stained-glass lighting fixtures and glass-door cabinets. It was the go-to spot for the family for years, including three adult children, but it's time, Kent said, to downsize.

While the outdoors beckons many, Kent said, the seclusion may dissuade some buyers.

Still, when vacationing in the cabin, the Storer family often spent time on the wraparound deck. It provides great views of Jug Mountain Ranch, home to three golf courses and a popular wedding venue, Kent said.

The Storer family represents the norm in McCall, according to their agent, Julia Shoemaker, with Boise-based Amherst Madison. Buyers flock to McCall from across the state, California, Washington and Oregon to find their remote getaway. Buyers have continued to gravitate toward the area since the pandemic, with some looking to establish roots, she said.

"It’s expensive to get a loan right now, but with McCall being a second-home area, there are cash buyers coming in," Shoemaker said. "We are a destination where people want to get away from the hustle and bustle."
