VUE Christie’s International Real Estate in Park City has expanded to Salt Lake City.

Sam Cubis is one of the six agents who founded VUE’s Park City office in 2023. “It just made sense for us to expand into the Salt Lake market, which was always the plan from the start,” Cubis said.

"In two years, the firm has grown to 80 agents in Park City and brokered more than $1.5 billion in total sales, ranking in the top three in market share in the popular resort town," according to a press release from Christie's International Real Estate.

Earlier this year, VUE was named the Christie’s International Real Estate 2025 Affiliate of the Year in the Americas.

The journey to Utah by way of New Zealand

Originally from New Zealand, Cubis has sold real estate in Utah for the past 13 years.

“We’re trying to create a really collaborative culture where people can have fun, enjoy themselves and feel supported,” Cubis said.

Cubis moved to Utah because of his wife, who calls it home.

“We worked in the same restaurant together in London,” he said. The couple spent time in New Zealand “traveling around the South Island, picking fruit and doing things like that,” Cubis said.

They eventually moved to Park City.

“When we had our first son, we always agreed we’d move back to be closer to her parents,” Cubis said. “When I first got here, I was working for a company selling contemporary steel homes all around the country.”

Cubis's father-in-law inspired him to pursue a career in real estate.

“I jumped in there with him and picked up his scraps of leads, things like that, and managed to scrounge a business out of it,” Cubis said.

A collaborative team

For Cubis, the best aspect of working at the agency is his fellow co-founders: Ben Fisher, Ace Allak, Molly Crosswhite, Matthew Magnotta and Rachel Retzer.

“We all get on very well,” he said.

Fisher was one of the first co-founders to join Cubis in opening the Park City office.

“The best thing about working with this group and running the brokerage is everyone is very like-minded and has the same goals — to create something that’s a very unique place to work and has a great culture,” Fisher said.

Cubis added that the team works well together because everyone has their own strengths.

“Where I’m better with people and the cultural side of things, [Fisher] is great on the technology side,” he said.

Fisher followed his father’s footsteps into the industry. “I joined up with him back in 2010 and grew a pretty large business.”

The group of owners meets weekly to discuss goals and ensure everyone is on the same page. “It’s nice to have that support,” Cubis said.

Goals for growth

Cubis said another goal for the agency is to be a place where agents never want to leave by providing them with all the tools and support they need.

“It’s been really gratifying here in Park City, just getting feedback from our agents and how happy they are,” Cubis said. “We just want to see the same thing happen in Salt Lake.”

Cubis expects it to grow to 30 agents within the first year, according to the press release.

All the co-founders will share the duties of working between the two offices. “We’ll split the time down there a little bit to make sure that one of us is always there supporting the agents,” Cubis said.

Cubis said the Salt Lake City housing market is growing. Homes.com data shows that as of November, the median sales price was $539,500, an increase of 3.8%.

Looking ahead

Fisher expressed excitement about expanding operations into Salt Lake City and applying the same collaborative approach to recruiting.

Gavin Swartzman, CEO of Christie’s International Real Estate network, said this group has a clear vision for what they want to achieve.

“There is a ton of opportunity for VUE in Salt Lake City, and, given their track record over two years in Park City, the sky is the limit for what they can accomplish,” he said.
