My partner referred me to Dr. Donte Scott. He is rated as one of the Top 20 Agents at Home Experts Realty and this is clearly a result of his many qualities. As is widely known, the current market is topsy-turvy; however, it is navigable because Dr. Scott is even-keeled, kind, and a very strong advocate for your interests.
Allow me to give one story from our experience with Dr. Scott:
It was at our very first house tour that we met Dr. Scott. He appeared out of his car, hopping on one foot, the other bandaged. He steadied himself on crutches. It was snowing, not heavily to accumulate but enough to make the ground slick and certainly a concern for someone on crutches. He ascended the stairs up to the door and we entered the house. I am not a first time homebuyer so I knew what to look for, what areas were of importance and the like; so I quickly broke from the group and began walking through the house on my own. I went upstairs but so did Donte, on his crutches. I told him that there was absolutely no need to come upstairs, especially with his situation. He insisted. We looked around upstairs, talked more about what we thought about the property as I opened access doors to the attic, closets, and other areas of the room. It impressed me that even though he did not have to follow me around (I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it was to be in crutches and how daunting it has to be going up and down stairs) he chose to; in fact, he was insistent on doing so. He wanted to be a direct part of my thought processes as we looked at this home. He did the same again when we looked at our next choice and then the next, and so on. Without let up he and his assistant (Eliza) were engaged with our house tours, allowed for changes in our budget, and managed our expectations.
In addition to those skills he also brings to the table many resources to assist the homebuyer (our role in this instance) in their purchase process–he has a Rolodex of reputable companies that can offer financing, insurance, home inspectors, and the like. There was no need for me to scramble to find any of these companies, wondering which one could do the job right–he had vetted recommendations ready for us to choose from.
Purchasing a home in this market was astonishingly challenging, frustrating, and unnerving. Yet throughout our experience Dr. Scott was reassuring, optimistic but straightforward, and was crucial to our success in purchasing a home. Additionally, I am thankful for the emotional support that he offered time and time again as we experienced setbacks in this volatile environment (who knew that a realtor needed to be a counselor of sorts as well?!). I was put at ease many times by his willingness to listen, actively listen to me even at my worst moments of frustration and guide me back to the reality of the decision making process. He strongly defended our interests, knowing our budget and what we could not exceed. He was transparent about the costs and any changes that could have a financial impact. I truly admire Dr. Scott, he possesses the qualities that allow for real confidence and trust. I encourage you to hire Dr. Scott–he is a dedicated man, a man of action, and a man of results!
