Michael Smith is a lifelong real estate investor, business owner, and licensed Washington real estate broker with 48 years of roots in Thurston County. Raised in a real estate family, Michael developed an early appreciation for property, development, and investment. His mother enjoyed a successful career as a REALTOR® for more than two decades, while his father was a respected Olympia developer and home builder.
Prior to becoming a full-time real estate broker, Michael spent more than 30 years serving the State of Washington in executive technology leadership positions, including Chief Technology Officer and Information Technology Director. Leading complex technology initiatives, multimillion-dollar budgets, strategic planning, and high-level negotiations sharpened the leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills that now benefit every client he represents.
Known by many as "The Land Man," Michael has built a reputation for helping buyers and sellers navigate everything from residential homes and waterfront properties to commercial investments, timberland, farms, recreational acreage, and development opportunities. Real estate has never simply been a career—it has been a lifelong passion. Over the years, he has personally acquired, sold, developed, and managed a diverse portfolio of investment properties, providing firsthand experience that few brokers can offer.
Since becoming a full-time broker, Michael has successfully represented buyers and sellers in more than 60 real estate transactions across Washington. Michael works alongside his wife and business partner, Karen Smith, a licensed real estate broker whose background in title and escrow adds another layer of knowledge and professionalism to every transaction.
