This central San Jose neighborhood is located between Coyote Creek and the Bayshore Freeway. An industrial sector, including the Kellogg corporate campus, creates a buffer between the residential area and the highway traffic. French and Spanish-inspired homes
The residential streets amount to just a few short blocks, but they are densely lined with single-family homes. The occasional leafy, mature tree and hot pink crepe myrtle blossoms shade the sidewalks. “Roosevelt Park has beautiful old homes,” says Michelle Elliott, Coldwell Banker Realtor and longtime San Jose resident. Homes primarily consist of Craftsman bungalows and minimal traditional ranch-styles built between 1948 and 1885. Some are inspired by Spanish and French architecture. Prices range from about $840,000 to $1.7 million; homes over $1 million tend to be over 1,000 square feet. Condos cost between about $500,000 and $660,000, while duplexes cost around $1 million. Over two-thirds of residents rent; apartments, including those designated for older residents, are available.

The neighborhood borders the Bayshore Freeway, connecting it to the entire Bay Area. However, “it’s sheltered from a lot of the traffic because they’ve put up a bunch of different road calming accommodations, so people have to go around the neighborhood—unless you live there,” Elliott says.
