Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School, with 972 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, defines itself as a “student-centered learning community of students, teachers and parents” working together to provide a “challenging, nurturing, motivating and engaging educational experience for all students.” The school develops parent involvement in daily homework, daily reading time and class projects as a vital component to student success and school programs. Teachers collaborate on data teams to measure student growth, monitor instruction and discuss best practices, planning lessons together to meet the different needs and learning styles of each student. The goal is for every student to become a life-long learner in reading, writing, listening, technology, critical thinking and speaking. Cesar E. Chavez Elementary has one of the district’s Head Start programs. It also offers the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, a dedicated elective class embedded into daily fourth and fifth grade classrooms and a foundational component of the AVID College Readiness System. The students and staff at Chavez share a School Pledge that commits them to respect people and property; to strive for excellence and to do their personal best, and advance via individual determination to become college and career ready.

if anyone is thinking of enrolling their child in kinder i have had two of my children with Mrs.Ferreira she is the best kindergarden teacher in that school. Unfortunately i cannot say the same for the principal Dr. Alonzo, even though she does sometimes acknowledge the students at Cesar Chavez, she...

like all schools it has its good and bad issues! parents are not very well welcomed and its hard to get parent and child involvement! school has very bad API scores and not all the teachers are fit for a proper education!
