GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Despite its renowned status as one of the better schools in the CCSD district, I feel as though Charleston Charter School for Math and Science (or CCSMS) has glaring flaws that prevent it from being a good school. Between poor food, hardly-maintained bathrooms and sanitation, and over-controlling faculty who, for some, see themselves as overlords, I feel as if this school does not provide the best circumstances for education. (And, for any reading, this scholarship would help me greatly in overcoming these difficulties through getting to apply debt-free to my college.)

It's a great experience , I've went to Math and Science my 6-9th and 12th grade. Math and science really helped prepare me for the college experience and it helped shape me my skills. There's so many resources there to help and overall and good supporting cast around to make sure I succeed and get the best slanting experience

I like that it is a smaller school which means it's like a tight-knit community; however, the administration should put more effort into improving school spirit. I think that if they let the students come up with more activities to do around the school and encourage them to do so would make the school more enjoyable.

I'm a current student at this school and over all it has been a pretty negative experience. The teachers at this school all kind over all but some of them lack teaching. The schools main problem is the moderation because the people in charge are not doing a good job at making this a decent school. t...

The policies here are very out of hand. Sometimes they're enforced, sometimes they're not. Students don't know what to do. The dress code is out of control, as girls are allowed to wear very skimpy short skirts, and the teachers get mad at boys for not wearing a uniform under a hoodie. The referral...

If I could give zero stars I would. Should honestly get closed down if you ask me. Most teachers don’t even teach and then complain that grades are low. Staff is always complaining about hoodies but like who cares if I’m cold I’m cold. You want me to freeze while in them boring classes. And phones,...

left this school after 2.5 years there, dreaded going to class and was eager to leave, no opportunities to make friends because the school is so small, rules are extremely strict and they can physically force you to take off a hoodie if it isn't the perfect shade of navy blue, they are more concerne...
