Myers Park High has been neighboring Barclay Downs since its conception. Established in 1951, the college-like high school is made up of 13 buildings spread across 62 acres of land. Newsweek Magazine has ranked Myers High as one of the 100 best schools in the United States for five consecutive years. It’s within the top 10% of all 2,571 schools in North Carolina. Of all the high schools in the US, Myers is in the top 1,300. In most subject areas, students are given the option to excel in their coursework through advanced placement, International Baccalaureate, and honors courses. This is on top of general and remedial courses. As for sports, students have many choices at their fingertips, including basketball, lacrosse, baseball, and swimming. Much like a college campus, students also have access to a college and career center. Myers High, partnering with Central Piedmont Community College, created Career & College Promise Dual Enrollment, a tuition-free college readiness program. Qualified high-school-age students can begin their future college education or career while still attending high school. The school offers over 60 clubs that students have the option to join. The college readiness score is well above the state average, and the graduation rate is 89%, which is the median for North Carolina high schools.

I've enjoyed my time at myers park due to the size of the student body and opportunities to connect with the community. A lot of my teachers have been great and really attentive, but i've had one or two who were pretty bad. Administration is pretty negligent when it comes to complaints about teachers, and wrongdoings by staff generally are ignorered. I'd like to see a change in that.

Myers Park has been a nicely mediocre 4 years of my life, AP classes have really been my saving grace at the school though. Clubs are generally poorly funded, they can't keep a school counselor for more than two years, and the administrators are mediocre at best.

The school is overall a good school with many academic and extracurricular opportunities. However, the administration falls well short of the mark in providing a safe, and inclusive learning environment. In addition, the school has very little diversity.

PLEASE READ!!!Many students report feeling very prepared for college once arriving. One issue that is a common complaint among students is that two students taking the same class will have a very different workload based upon which teacher they have, however is a minor problem and will be easily fix...

When we placed our child at Myers Park we had such high expectations, specially of the IB program. So far, the IB program has been nothing but "busy work". For example, one of the projects my child did was give a speech in English class. He had to do the research, write the speech and recite the spe...
