The classes, and especially IB and AP classes, are mostly well taught and have prepared me well for college.

Overall I had a good experience and GW. We have a few options for college readiness, such as AP and IB classes. The best part of my experience was probably the diversity of people, it was easy to meet people I clicked with and became friends with. The worst part of my experience was the science and history departments. I had a science teacher who wasn't there most of the year, and two who didn't teach in styles I could understand. In history, the only class we have other than US history and AP US History is IB World, where my teacher focused on select parts of history, such as the French Revolution and Enlightenment, and I don't think I learned anything new during the entire year. I would like to see more difficulty in the classes, even at AP and IB levels.

I have really enjoyed my time at George Washington High School. I love the speech and debate program, and am currently enrolled in the IB diploma. It is hard work, but I have learned a lot. I do feel like the general DPS teacher retention rate is poor, making all our best teachers leave, but I don't think that is specific to the school itself. Overall, I like the school, but things could be changed.

This school does not handle truancy. Instead, they talked me into transferring to an alternative school. Truancy happened again and George Washington said he couldn't come back. DPS gave me no options for schooling. My son was 15. I sent him to live with his noncustodial dad and that blew up in my f...

My daughter attended for four years. She graduated this year and they did a wonderful job through COVID.GW was a great school for my daughter: it has advanced and AP classes as well as the typical Public School option of a "regular" class. While this sometimes leads students to feel as though there a...

I got to graduate but didn't have to attend classes or learn much. I did play basketball here but failed out of college.

Nice traditional high school, similar to what I had growing up.
