My experience at Hamilton Southeastern High School has been very positive since I moved here in my junior year from South Carolina due to my father's Army career. The best part for me is the performing arts' influence on our school culture; from marching band to Wind Ensemble, it's a community where you meet individuals who truly make a lasting impression and become some of the best friends I have ever had. Although I don't aspire to go into a military career myself, I recognize the value of a JROTC program for students who are interested in joining branches such as the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, or Air Force. Currently, they lack this opportunity at our school. While Fishers High School offers JROTC, it would be beneficial for HSE to provide this option as well.

At HSE high school, I would like to see more parent involvement. I would also appreciate it if students could choose earlier on which areas they are more interested in, because often times, the focus is Math and Science.

I'd say the best parts of my experience would be the various clubs and activities that you may join at school. Joining clubs is how I got involved and made new connections with people, as well as attending events like performing arts concerts and sporting events.

The staff and deans refuse to acknowledge problems within the school, often turning down students in need of help. Hypocritical, as the preach about their willingness to better the school system.

All 3 of my children have had great experiences at HSE high school. Dedicated teachers and staff that promote success. My kids are minority and we don’t live in the “rich” neighborhoods. This hasn’t been a factor to my kids being in varsity sports or being successful in the classroom. I highly recom...
