Originally founded as a private school in 1981, Alief Montessori Community School maintains the Montessori view of education as preparing a child for life. In line with this holistic view, students here attend multi age, student-centered classes. Currently, Alief Montessori Community School groups students by age as primary, lower and upper elementary. Students stay with the same teacher for three years, building and strengthening a community bond with their teacher and peers.
Although all teachers are Montessori-certified, the child holds center stage in Montessori education. Children work to develop their potential through constructive activities. The teacher’s role is to support that development by preparing the environment, directing the child-chosen activity, and encouraging responsible independence. One of the primary goals of Montessori education is to mold self-disciplined learners through student choice of activities.

My daughter has attended this school for two years. I like the school environment and events. I feel like they could do more to make sure parents socialize. But overall, I feel my daughter is learning and that her teachers and school staff are caring.

The principal of this school is constantly exhibiting a sarcastic demeanor with the parents of this school who show up to support our children and the school as well. I hope her behavior changes for the sake of the kids.

I have been at Alief Montessori Community school for over seven years, and it has changed my life. When I say this, I am not exagerating, but telling the truth. I wish there was a highschool so I can continue going here.
