The school’s mascot, the bear, represents a school “where bears lead” and students are empowered to achieve and discover. In keeping with the mascot’s acronym, children are encouraged to be Big-hearted, Exceptional, Achieving, Respectful and Self-confident. Annandale Elementary motivates kids to excel in many ways. These include a student-of-the-month recognition program, spelling bee competitions and online resources on the school’s website. Students have access to Scholastic books, Scratch Design Studio, Beyond the Bell e-library plus more. Parents also have online resources to help enrich their child’s education. Built in 1900 on Ruby Place in historic Annandale Village, the school originally had only two classrooms. Today, the elementary school, greatly expanded, is located in a residential area across from Optimist High School. The school has a playground, a handball wall and a variety of games to play. Annandale participates in the LA’s BEST Afterschool Enrichment Program, offering kids a variety of extracurricular activities, as well. To get to Annandale Elementary, children can take the city bus to the stops located at North Figueroa Street and Annan Way.

She gives off the feeling that she does not want parents or the community involved in her school. So m...

Most of the teachers care and work really hard to make sure your child excels. There are only two down sides...
