A private, independent and coed Modern Orthodox Jewish yeshiva, Manhattan Day School enrolls approximately 500 students in prekindergarten through eighth grade. The school was founded in 1943 and is part of the National Society of Hebrew Day Schools. Students in the early childhood program at Manhattan Day gain familiarity with the Hebrew language and are exposed to art, music, literature, science and technology. Activities available to preschool students include a petting zoo, raising and hatching baby chicks and the 100th Day of School celebration. The Lower School offers literacy, numeracy, science and art courses in first through third grade. These studies serve as the foundation for advanced coursework in the Middle School, which enrolls grades four through eight. Manhattan Day provides students in Middle School computer tablets to help them conduct research projects, engage in collaborative work and develop individual long-term advocacy initiatives. The science curriculum expands as students advance in age, with classes in physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, geology and astronomy. Manhattan Day’s Hebrew immersion program employs books, songs, games, educational videos and creative tools to promote a durable connection to the language. Students study ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, photography, filmmaking and architecture to encourage creativity. Music instruction includes sing-alongs in early childhood programs, with later grades studying music appreciation, theory, composition and performance.

Massive overhead for nonsense spending surely doesn’t justify steady increases in tuition. Curriculum vague if exists. Old school punitive methodology.

This school has not only given my three children a top notch education, but has done so within a warm and nurturing environment, filling them with competitive skills as well as confidence and compassion for others.

Teachers are incompetent educator failures who are their due to their connections not skills. The early childhood department should be ashamed.
