Founded in 2011, Bard Early College High School in Newark is a public high school that provides its students with a well-rounded academic curriculum and the skills they need to seamlessly transition from high school to college and beyond.
At Bard Early College, students participate in a robust college program of study developed by Bard College in the liberal arts and sciences that emphasizes critical thinking through writing, discussion and inquiry. Based on a national movement for early college education focused on quality and equity, the program places emphasis on highly motivated students who exhibit an intellectual curiosity and a love of learning. The school’s free college associate degree program offers over 60 credits that are transferable to select bachelor’s degree programs across the country.
Bard empowers students in both the classroom and the community by honoring each individual, nurturing their strengths and supporting them through challenges. True to Bard’s motto, “A Place to Think,” problem-solving, innovation and collaboration are engrained throughout every aspect of this Newark school’s academic program, which allows students to fulfill their potential as the next generation of scholars and leaders.
