Opened in 2001, Sonoran Science Academy is located in Peoria, Arizona. Serving students in Kindergarten through eighth grade, Sonoran Science Academy has an enrolled population of more than 500 students.
It is part of a network of Sonoran schools throughout Arizona, all of which are dedicated to science-related skills.
The school’s mission is to “foster critical thinking, engaging all students in a rigorous, STEM-focused, college-prep curriculum, delivered by a dedicated educational community that celebrates diversity, where students aspire to be tomorrow's leaders.” The school’s mascot is the Eagles.
Sonoran Science Academy has a 15:1 student/teacher ratio, enabling a small-school feel.
The school has a small-school feel with a focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education and college prep. The school emphasizes computer literacy and a technology-based education by providing each of its students with Chromebooks. In addition, 100% of the students learn to code throughout their academic experience.
Not only does the school have a strong STEM-based curriculum, but Sonoran Science Academy also encourages its students to participate in the exploration of STEM through clubs. Those clubs include the science olympiad, coding, video game design and many more. The school also offers more traditional activities like sports programs, performing arts and student council.

My experience at sonoran science academy was horrible. The teachers don’t teach and system doesn’t work. My test results are worst than when I went in.

Sonoran Science Academy has a beautiful campus with an open courtyard where students tend to the flowers and vegetables they plant around the trees. The teachers and students also painted colorful maps of the United States and the World on the courtyard. In addition to the playscape in the courtyard...

I have been involved with this school for 5 years now and it always amazes me. The families are so supportive and happy here. They help each other out and are always willing to step in and help another family. Students are kind and caring to each other and the teachers love the work they do.
