Anchored in a North Phoenix residential neighborhood, Palo Verde Middle School serves about 1,000 students in seventh and eighth grades within the Washington Elementary School District. As a teaching philosophy, faculty here follow the principles of academic teaming in which students are grouped with a core team of teachers that work together to create a more holistic approach to learning. Teams, for instance, can better establish goals and balance resources and classwork, and the structure is more conducive to group trips and enrichment activities that are more focused on a particular team’s needs. Outside of the classroom, students can develop interests in a variety of extracurriculars and electives including music, art, chess club, spirit club, and many more. Additionally, active Palo Verde Panthers can participate in numerous athletics such as basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, and dance line, among various others. These teams typically compete against local rivals at Cholla, Desert Foothills, Mountain Sky, and Royal Palm. Among notable services that complement the regular curriculum are an English Language Learner program, Native American programs, crisis intervention services, after school remedial classes, and on-site special education. With its substantial curriculum, various athletics, and wide range of services offered, Palo Verde Middle School creates an atmosphere that helps students to grow and develop academically as well as socially.

I believe Palo Verde is an excellent school. My daughter really enjoyed the atmosphere and the teachers. The curriculum is appropriate for the grade level, sometimes advanced. I definitely recommend this school.

I have personally witnessed how much effort and care the Administration and Faculty put into this school. Any student would be lucky to have such a positive, creative, experienced, results driven environment in which to learn.

My son attended the special needs preschool at Palo Verde Middle School. He had a severe speech delay. It's now been two years and he is ready for Kindergarten. I can't express how pleased I am. His teachers were absolutely amazing. Rebecca Smith is the best. Sara Spiekerman was also fantastic! I am...
