School on the Rise, formerly known as Mr. Darcy’s Class, is a Waldorf elementary school in the West Oak Hill neighborhood of Austin. Run by a family of three certified Waldorf educators—David, Susan and Haven Darcy—School on the Rise offers very small class sizes and extra attention for every student, based on the Waldorf philosophy of education.
Waldorf education holds as its primary intention the goal of bringing forth in every child their unique potential in a way that benefits the further development of humanity as a whole. The curriculum offers a classical education with integration of arts and creative thinking and is known especially for its flexibility and responsiveness to the needs, challenges, talents and interests of each individual child.
School on the Rise follows that pedagogy closely as David Darcy, the school’s founder, is a nationally recognized expert in Waldorf education and author of two books about the subject. Their philosophy is to deliver an educational experience that draws forth artistic, academic and practical capacities in each child, and seeks to cultivate a deep sense of human freedom, global citizenship, personal integrity and intelligent optimism.
Situated on eight beautiful acres in southwest Travis County, School on the Rise offers plenty of time in nature. Students, parents and teachers all interact closely throughout the school year, making sure no child is lost in the crowd. The parent community is enthusiastic, engaged and very supportive, and have nothing but great things to say about the holistic education their children receive at the school.

My child loves being part of Mr. Darcy's Class. He is thriving in Mr. Darcy's care and under his guidance. It is the best fit for our family! David Darcy is a wonderful role model for my little boy. I am ever so grateful!

The whole approach to learning is thoughtful and child-centered. David is a master. He has formal Waldorf training, has taught every grade level from K to high school, and children really like him. We love Mr Darcy and Mrs Darcy- they've provided a enviroment for our son to flourish as a student and a person. in a larger setting he was the outside, but he's now given the attention and structure so that he's delveloping to a amazing student and compassionate person
