I attended during the Wynkoop Administration. There were multiple instances of racism and sexism that he handled poorly. Otherwise it offers students many choices for electives and pre-professional classes and provides a sturdy education.

The honors program student cohort was positive in that they are earnest students who are focused on learning.

Ballard High School is a great school with a wide array of classes you can take from engineering to video production. The teachers are friendly and knowledgeable and the students are friendly. There is a strong school spirit here, which can be seen in the several sports Ballard provides. This is not the most diverse school but that is due to the demographic of the neighborhood. Overall a great school that has everything you would want to be prepared for college and life after.

My son attended this school until halfway through his junior year when he dropped out and got his GED at Shoreline CC and is now attending college courses there. We have had an excellent experience with our daughter at Ballard HS. They have a great selection of AP courses and multiple clubs, not to mention their outstanding band and athletic program. All teachers I have interacted with have been professional and caring about their student’s achievements.

This school is one of the strongest in the district and state academically with many AP courses, clubs such as robotics and programs such as biotech, digital film etc recognized nationally. The Jazz band was chosen this year, along with Roosevelt High from Seattle and only one additional high school...
