Chandler Elementary School educates students from transitional kindergarten to fifth grade, with a strong emphasis on connecting through community in order to thrive. According to national elementary school rankings, Chandler Elementary students who completed the 2021–22 academic year tested favorably compared to other public schools in the neighborhood. Winning awards regularly from the LA Unified School District as a “distinguished public elementary school,” its students’ proficiency in math and reading is above average. For bilingual students, resources are geared to learning in both languages, to set them up for success. Cultural appreciation plays a significant role in uniting the diverse school’s student body. Students attending Chandler find the school mascot, “Charlie the Cheetah,” a friendly face that enhances their learning. Charlie gets much exposure as an entertaining educator in Chandler’s curriculum and in social activities he promotes school spirit and literacy. The Chandler faculty ensures that all students feel safe and valued on campus, through voluntary peer programs that focus on acting respectfully, responsibly and intuitively when sensing stranger danger.
