GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Its been pretty good so far, considering I've only been in the school building for about 2-3 months before COVID-19 struck. The teachers are very nice and it's very diverse. The clubs are fun, I was at the Invent the Future club, where we went on two field trips to the Kids Museum. My only complaint (this may sound stupid) as that the food isn't great. It's close to hospital or airplane food bad but not as good as bringing your own lunch. (but the food here was a 100% improvement from the junk that is PGCPS) The teachers are amazing at this school, mainly because they feel more involved in the stuff we're learning. I'm in the 8th grade and my favorite teacher has to be Ms. Sommer, my math teacher from last year. Other than that I give this school a 4/5.

Teachers don't help and school is very stressful yet boring. I have met many students who the teacher's offend and the administration sees themselves as the victims.

Sligo Middle School was such a comfortable place to go to school. It truly felt like home and I had such a great time in my attendance there. I think the security could have been much better.

I graduated from Sligo last year (2021) and I had a great experience. The school had a really amazing atmosphere and I always felt supported. I felt prepared for high school, even for the advanced program I'm in.

My child was an A student at Sligo and is now struggling in high school because she can't keep up with the work. Sligo just doesn't prepare students to work hard. They don't teach any study skills and don't challenge the kids.

My child had a great experience last year, our first at Sligo. I have been paying attention to Sligo for years, deciding whether I was going to send my kids there. Until new principal leadership came in 5 years ago (around 2013), I would have said no. Since that change, the admin team has been stron...
