Holy Family Catholic School offers a private, parochial education and enrolls students from transitional kindergarten to 8th grade on a rolling admissions basis. Founded in 1937 by the Sisters of Loretto, the student body averages in the low 300s and is maintained with a student-teacher ratio of 13-1. The mission of the Catholic Church is central to the education provided, and each class attends Mass weekly, with the entire school attending Mass once a month. Prayer services are also held on various occasions. Primary grades are taught in self-contained classrooms, while middle school grades use departmental scheduling in which students change classrooms. The enhanced academic curriculum includes accelerated reading and math instruction, Spanish, gardening, theater and music, a visual arts program, California Mission Studies, science camp and marine life science camp on Catalina Island, and ministry to the elderly. The school’s athletic program participates in the Catholic Youth Organization, in which about 170 school teams compete, sponsored by the Catholic Charities of Los Angeles. Situated across the street from South Pasadena High School, Holy Family is in a section of town filled with both public and private schools at every grade level. Parents cite caring, encouraging teachers and a close-knit community among the students as reasons to attend Holy Family.

Holy Family School offers an excellent learning environment, the teachers, staff, and Senior Administration are all wonderful. Both of my girls started school this year in TK and Kindergarten, they love their school especially their teachers and new friends.

My daughter started Holy Family in the middle of the school year and the staff and kids were so welcoming. The teachers have high expectations...especially in middle school and the students are more than prepared for high school. It makes me feel good to know she's in an academically challenging school where she is emotionally supported and feels safe.

Holy Family is such an amazing school! My son has really come out of his little shy shell. There is a great sense of community in the school and parish. I so appreciate all the hard work they've put into navigating this rough road though covid.

My 6th grader was coming in new in the fall of 21' and we are now finishing out our first year. Coming from a public school in Santa Monica, we didn't really know what to expect. Holy Family has an amazing and wonderful Principal, Jennifer Garzia and Vice Principal, Anne Regan-Smith who together, ma...

Our last of 3 just graduated from Holy Family, South Pasadena. We have been there for 17 years total, in the school alone, 19 years as parishioners, and have loved every minute of our experience. All three of our children graduated well prepared for the next chapter in their lives as they moved on t...

Our 10 year old son has been at Holy Family School since Kindergarten and is now in 4th grade. From the beginning we have been very impressed with the teachers, support staff, and the involvement of other parents within the school. His learning religion was key for us. And the inclusion of drama, li...
