Selleh Park
Formerly called Hudson Elementary, Joseph P. Spracale Elementary is a public school serving about 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Tempe Elementary School District.
At this Home of the Hawks, the faculty follow a mission to create a respectful and nurturing environment to help all children succeed. Most notably, students here earn test scores in reading in math above the district and state averages, helping Spracale to often rank in the top quarter of elementary schools in Arizona.
In line with the district, the curriculum at Spracale integrates project-based learning and a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math to prepare students for the 21st century. And to help students succeed on a level playing field, all kindergarteners receive iPads and students in first through fifth grade receive Chromebooks to use at school.
Outside of class, active Hawks can play in fourth grade kickball, fifth grade soccer, or upper elementary basketball, while all students can participate in the district’s before- and after-school care program, which includes STEM-focused projects, arts, homework time, and a range of other activities.
And throughout the year, students can enjoy being kids on field trips to the Arizona State Fair every autumn, staying fit on fun runs, or showing off their talents at seasonal school concerts.
