Preparing students for the world is the No. 1 goal at Fries Avenue STEAM School. Academically focused around five pillars – science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics – students become proficient in these areas during their elementary school journey.
First opening its doors in 1923, the building still has its original architecture and carries its historical charm like a badge of honor, most notably the blue front door. Over the decades, the original Fries Avenue Elementary School became a STEAM-centered institution. Roving iPad carts and an iMac computer lab are just the beginning. The school embraces a curriculum that teaches students to use science to be better thinkers and stronger members of the community. Performing arts, dance, music and visual arts are also important aspects of the learning regimen.
The school garden is a particular point of pride, serving as a place where students participate in practical lessons using the garden’s grounds. Fries Avenue also has a very active parent organization that plans various community events throughout the year.
