As one of the newer schools in Wilmington, George De La Torre Jr. Elementary serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade with a focus on developing students’ character for years to come.
George De La Torre Jr. Elementary has a science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, or STEAM, curriculum. The school’s STEAM Lab is a centralized place on campus where students can experiment with hands-on learning. Each year, the STEAM Lab opens its doors for a STEAM Fair where students can showcase their work to families and members of the community. The arts are also highly valued at George De La Torre Jr. Elementary. The campus is full of colorful displays of art, from student-created murals to art adorning the hallways. Visual arts, performing arts and dance are just some of the arts-based programs available to students. About 620 students attend this public school each year. Its namesake, George De La Torre Jr., a renowned business owner, grew up in Wilmington and became the area’s most well-known benefactor.

At George De la Torre things are changing their is more supervision on campus in the morning and those volunteers that greet you in the entrance are 100% dedicated to the school this showed me that the principal is right on track keep it up...proud to say my children attend George De La Torre...teac...

This school has a great principal in charege the office staff has improved after a couple of yeards teachers seem to be very dedicated to their students, parent center could use some help they need more unity

This school lacks a good leader and a better administration. Parents are often discouarge from participating due to the poor attitude of the front office staff.
