A combined elementary and middle school, Harry Bridges Span School offers students an immersive, all-in-one educational experience in their formative years.
Named after West Coast activist Harry Bridges, who championed social issues such as labor reform and civil rights, the school honors its namesake in a variety of ways. One of those ways is the schoolwide program, The Leader in Me, modeled after Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” This model teaches students to be entrepreneurial, practice excellent time management and strive for academic achievement.
The gifted program at Harry Bridges Span School is highly regarded. Harry Bridges Span School has held a Schools for Advanced Studies, or SAS, designation since 1998, which marks gifted programs that are innovative and effective. Other learning opportunities on campus, like the Learning Garden and Peacemakers program, give students a chance to explore their creativity in practical, hands-on ways.
As a Title I High Achieving School, Harry Bridges Span School’s athletic program is exceptional with award-winning band, drill, cheer, and academic teams. Beyond academics and athletics, educators partner with members of the community, like United Way, to expand students’ personal growth.
