Quiet coastal living with urban amenities
Mill Basin is a quiet residential area near Jamaica Bay in southeastern Brooklyn. Combining the atmosphere of a Long Island coastal suburb with urban conveniences, the compact neighborhood–named for the tide mills that once lined its shores–benefits from having water on all three sides. Semi-detached multifamily colonial revival townhomes in the Old Mill Basin section join Queen Anne Revival and Neo-French mini-mansions on the Mill Basin peninsula proper. While some residents have private boat docks in their backyards, others can rent a slip at King’s Marina. Mill Basin plays host to vibrant Russian and Israeli communities, with numerous parochial schools and religious institutions reflecting that diversity. “If you work in Manhattan, you can come home to Mill Basin and feel like you’re not in the city, but all of its resources and amenities are nearby,” says Marcia Melendez, an agent with eXp Realty.
