Diverse housing options in an in-demand market

Broad Ripple’s housing market is as diverse as its community. “The housing market is always strong there just because you have everything,” says Tommy Johnson, a Realtor with @Properties. “You have people that have been there for 50 years, you have young people wanting to live there for the short term, you have a lot of investors buying there because they know there’s a strong rental market there, so it’s a good mix.” The community has apartments, condos and single-family homes. You’ll find early 19th-century Cape Cods, cottages, bungalows and ranch-style homes with red brick exteriors or influences like Tudor Revival, Federal and Craftsman. There’s also spacious two-story Federal, Colonial Revival and American Foursquare houses. Residents will find parking on the street or detached garages and parking spaces behind homes.

Condos typically range from the low $200,000s to the mid-$300,000s. Most single-story homes range from the low $200,000s to the low $400,000s. Two-story houses and properties with larger yards start around $400,000 and can reach the high $600,000s. The neighborhood’s most expensive homes often have more yard space, extensive renovations or were built within the past 10 years and can range from the mid-$600,000s and top $1 million.

I love the community events available, I love that it's somewhat small but has a variety of restaurants and shops. I wish the construction wasn't as bad, and I would like to see better traffic patterns.

Broad Ripple is like a little village within Indianapolis. It used to be known as the post-college party scene in the early 2000's. It still has a bar scene, but many who moved there after college decided to stay and are raising their families here. There are lots of small businesses and restaurants and the Monon trail cuts through the middle of town.
