"We really look forward to it because it brings people from all over the world. It brings the rich, the famous, and the not so famous. But a lot of individuals just want to rent out their homes for the week. I’ve even heard of instances where individuals do house swaps with people who live in other countries. So, someone might go to Spain for a week while that person goes to the Masters."

Resting along the Savannah River, which serves as the dividing line to South Carolina, the Westside area is highly commercial. However, homebuyers can find a few neighborhoods interspersed between the restaurants, shopping centers and hotels. Those looking to move here will discover everything from 1950s ranch-style homes to 1980s wooden clapboard townhouses. “There are not a whole lot of single-family homes in that area,” Chivers says. “You have more townhomes and apartments.” The average list price hovers around $200,000. “The market tends to do very well here," Chivers says. "Are things selling the way they were two years ago? No, but they’re still selling. If a home is priced right, it will usually sell in 30 to 45 days.”

Brookfield Park offers two playgrounds and a splash pad to cool off on during the warmer months. “You can live, work and play there,” Chivers says. “It’s a very commercial location. I think it caters to the Millennials. Older people may like a little more laid-back, quiet-type atmosphere. That area is busier.”
