Affluent community in Boulder’s foothills
Large luxury homes hide in the thick forests surrounding Carriage Hills, a secluded community located in the foothills just beyond Boulder. The mountainous landscape lends to plenty of outdoor recreation, while the winding dirt roads help keep the neighborhood private. “Carriage Hills is a great community to call home,” says Real Estate Agent Gretchen Heine with Milehimodern, who has almost 10 years of experience. “It’s very close to Boulder, it has beautiful homes on acres of land and provides a foothills living experience.”
Many homes in Carriage Hills boast stunning views of the Flatirons, or Boulder Valley.
Architectural styles vary but tend to emphasize mountain-modern or rustic mountain designs.

Million-dollar mansions on the mountainside
Homes in Carriage Hills are spread out on properties that are only accessible along the neighborhood’s winding dirt roads. Most of the homes are millennium mansions built in the 1990s, though there are a handful of new builds. There are mountainside homes with farmhouse-inspired architecture and multi-story homes with cabin features. Modern homes with a custom build are also popular, with picture windows and open floor plans. These luxury houses span 2,000 to 6,000 square feet and cost between $1.4 million and $2.5 million, depending on size and housing style. “The lots are generous, the views of the front range are gorgeous and the community is fully gated, providing the owners with added security,” Heine says. The CAP Index crime score for Carriage Hills is 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.
