Foxcroft
Suburban Neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina
Mecklenburg County 28210, 28211

Colonial Revivals and modern mansions
As one ventures further into its residential streets, Foxcroft’s landscape transforms from apartment complexes and townhouses to high-end single-family subdivisions and gated communities. The neighborhood’s architectural styles are diverse, but most homes are spacious, with an average of over 4,000 square feet. Beneath the towering canopies are brick Colonial Revivals, stately Millenium Mansions, charming French-inspired homes and sleek midcentury modern ranch-style houses. “The large lots are very appealing,” says Ashley McMillan, a broker and Realtor with Dickens Mitchener Real Estate. Stephen agrees: "It’s not uncommon to see buyers purchasing smaller houses for the land and building flashy modern homes on them.” Newer builds range from small, Craftsman-style homes to modern mansions with high-end bells and whistles. While houses on quarter-acre lots start in the $700,000s, properties with a private feel and nearly 2 acres can be priced upwards of $4 million. Townhouses also list between $300,000 and $1 million.Walking paths connect residents to shops
Foxcroft residents get outdoors on the neighborhood’s wooded, paved walking trails. “Foxcroft has a walking path that goes all the way through it. There’s actually a tunnel that goes under Fairview Road, so you can walk to some of the stores and restaurants over there without having to cross the street,” McMillan says. “There’s also Sharon Elementary in the neighborhood, which has large athletic fields where kids play after school.” Between the multiple subdivisions in Foxcroft, some, such as Foxcroft East, also maintain playgrounds throughout the community. Park Road Park, located just west of SouthPark, features sporting facilities, an 11-acre lake and two horseshoe pits.Highly rated public and private schools
Highly rated Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are close to home, with Sharon Elementary in the neighborhood. The elementary school scores an A-minus from Niche, while Alexander Graham Middle earns a B-plus. Myers Park High receives an A rating and has a notable college preparatory program. South Charlotte’s private schools include Charlotte Country Day School, serving prekindergarten through the 12th grade, and ranked as the No. 6 best private high school in the state by Niche.Neighborhood swim and tennis clubs
Many residents are members of Foxcroft Hills, a neighborhood swim and racquet club. Neighborly competition is easy to find here, as the club has two men’s and six women’s tennis teams. Kids can join the Foxcroft Fins Swim Team, which competes in the summertime as part of the South Park Swim League. Outside the neighborhood, some residents are members of South Charlotte’s prestigious country clubs. Invitation-only clubs include Myers Park Country Club, while others are open membership, like Cedarwood Country Club.Car-dependent, but close to attractions
No light rail services Foxcroft, and though there are city buses with routes along the neighborhood, "almost everyone drives to their destination," Stephen says. Uptown Charlotte is roughly 6 miles north, a trip that can take anywhere from 15 minutes to half an hour, depending on traffic conditions. Charlotte Douglas International Airport, a central airline hub, is approximately 12 miles west. No major interstates are particularly close.Shopaholics love being near SouthPark Mall
The Foxcroft neighborhood borders some of Charlotte's most popular shopping destinations, including one of the busiest malls in the state: SouthPark Mall, home to Macy’s, Levi’s, Lululemon, the list of retailers goes on. There’s a Whole Foods next to the mall, but some residents prefer to head to Cotswold Village Shops, where there’s a Publix and Harris Teeter. Across Fairview Road, Foxcroft East Shopping Center is even more tucked away. “There’s Foxcroft Wine Co., which is very neat and unique. They’ve got a great wine selection and good appetizers,” McMillan says. “Barrington’s is definitely another one to know. It’s also right there.” This is known as a date night spot, with its dim lighting and a four-course menu of locally sourced New American dishes. For a casual meal, Brixx Wood Fired Pizza + Craft Bar is a Charlotte-founded regional chain, with 24 craft beers on tap.
