Providence Park

Colonial Revival-style homes and more
"Providence Park is a little bit on the outside of SouthPark, which makes it more affordable, but people still have access to amenities like the mall," Trouten says. Homebuyers can purchase a three-bedroom 1950s brick ranch-style house for between $750,000 and $950,000. There are three-bedroom 1980s Cape Cods that sell for around $770,000. Assessors value four-bedroom 1980s Colonial Revival-style houses at between $980,000 and $1.2 million. Five-bedroom houses of the same style sell for between $1.1 million and $1.5 million. "Homebuyers often renovate the homes. The value of the land and the location is such that you can spend money updating the houses. Not all the value is tied up in the houses," Trouten says.Moderately-to-highly-rated public and private schools
Local children can attend Billingsville Elementary, which has a 12-to-1 student-teacher ratio and a C-plus Niche rating. Students at the A-minus Niche-rated Randolph Middle School are 64% proficient in math and 77% proficient in reading. Teens often move on to East Mecklenburg High School, which has an 85% graduation rate and a B-plus Niche rating. The high school offers Advanced Placement classes. "People are partially drawn to the area because it's very close to several private schools," Trouten says. The nearby Providence Day School, serving kindergarten through twelfth grade, is one of the area's most popular private schools. It has an A-plus Niche rating and a 100% average graduation rate.Greenspaces ideal for leisure and athletics
The single-family homes of Providence Park are configured around the neighborhood’s winding estuary, McMullen Creek. McAlpine Creek Park is about a 6-mile drive away for Providence Park residents. The 114-acre park includes a lake with a fishing pier, soccer fields, hiking and biking trails and a dog park. Some residents spend afternoons on the fairways of the prestigious Myers Park Country Club, about 4 miles northwest.Restaurants and big-box retail
Folks find most of their necessities at the Cotswold Village shopping mall on the neighborhood's northeast corner. It is accessible on foot. The shopping center is home to a Walgreens, a Bath & Body Works, a Marshalls and a Publix. Folks buy furnishings for their houses at the World Market. Residents enjoy sushi plates at Koishi and drunken noodles at the Thai House. SouthPark Mall is 3 miles west and is home to a Gap, a Tiffany & Co., a Nordstrom, a Macy's and much more. On the southwest corner of Providence Park, the Fresh Market grocery store sells restaurant-quality meals.A museum, live performances and professional sports
About 3 miles north, the Mint Museum Randolph features permanent collections that include North Carolina pottery, African art, Asian art, American art and historic maps. Four miles north of Providence Park, Bojangles Coliseum features performances by comedians like Katt Williams and Ron White. Children attend summer camps and adults exercise at the Levine Jewish Community Center, about 2 miles south. The center also hosts the annual Charlotte Jewish Film Festival. Residents typically watch new film releases at the Cinemark theater on Monroe Road. Folks travel to Center City to watch the Panthers play at the Bank of America Stadium and the Hornets play at the Spectrum Center.Getting around Providence Park and Charlotte
"People like the neighborhood because it's off one of our main corridors, Providence Road. That makes it very easy to get to Uptown Charlotte, also known as Center City," Trouten says. There are bus stops throughout the community, including on Providence Road, Randolph Road and Sardis Road. Residents can use the bus to travel throughout Charlotte. The neighborhood is lined with sidewalks, allowing residents to walk to the Cotswold Village shopping mall. Residents take Providence Road about 6 miles north to reach Uptown Charlotte. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is about 12 ½ miles northwest via Randolph Road and Wilkinson Boulevard.
