North Davis
Homes ranging in size from the late 20th and early 21st centuries
As in most of Davis, the streetscapes here are cushioned with shrubbery, mature oak trees and well-maintained gardens. North Davis' single-family homes and condos all have relatively small lot sizes compared to the rest of the city, and vary widely in style and price. The modest ranch-style and bi-level homes here mostly date to the 1970s; more development came between 2000 and 2015 in the form of Spanish Revival-style homes with barrel-tile roofs and stucco exteriors, and Craftsman-style homes with cross-gabled roofs, vinyl siding and prominent two-car garages. Most of these single-family homes have two to four bedrooms in less than 2,000 square feet, and range from $400,000 to $900,000. Larger homes of about 2,000 to 3,000 square feet range from $1 million to $1.8 million. Condos in North Davis tend to have two or three bedrooms; those from the 1970s are either detached units or set in low-rise complexes, and range from $300,000 to $600,000, while those from the 2000s are in mid-rise complexes and range from $500,000 to $800,000. There are also many apartment complexes along the neighborhood's south edge.
A-rated schools in the Davis Joint Unified District
The neighborhood’s west side is zoned for North Davis Elementary, while the east is zoned for Birch Lane Elementary; both schools earn an A rating from Niche. Students from both schools can continue to the A-rated Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High, which features extracurriculars like the Holmes Birders, a birdwatching club that usually meets during lunch and occasionally takes field trips to see new natural habitats. Davis Senior High earns an A-plus and offers career-oriented programs in automobile technology, robotics, and health sciences; its agriculture program includes animal science, agricultural mechanics and agriscience pathways.Birdwatching at the pond in NorthStar Park
Northstar Park is the primary green space in North Davis, featuring two children’s playgrounds, multiple walking and biking paths and a soccer field. Adjacent to the park, the Julie Partansky Garden & Pond offers wooden walkways through its peaceful landscape, while farther south, Covell Park has climbing structures and tall maple trees. Throughout the neighborhood, pocket parks are tucked between residential streets, usually featuring playgrounds or exercise equipment. On the neighborhood’s east side, Wildhorse Golf Club has a public 18-hole course on 170 acres of reclaimed walnut orchard; some residents close to the club have views of the course. “Their backyard is practically the golf course,” says Anna Aljabiry, a Davis resident and Realtor with Real Broker. Notably, the course and its surrounding trails have historically been a breeding ground for burrowing owls, an endangered species native to Davis and Lolo County. Though residential and agricultural development has driven down their numbers significantly, they can still be spotted from time to time in North Davis.

Chain and local eateries in the Marketplace Shopping Center
The Marketplace Shopping Center in the southwest corner has national chains like CVS, Safeway and Peet’s Coffee, as well as local restaurants like Jack’s Urban Eats, which specializes in salads and sandwiches that feature seasonal vegetables and locally made breads. Also at The Marketplace, Dos Coyotes Border Cafe is a colorful California chain that serves Mexican and Southwestern classics, as well as seasonal specials with Davis-area produce. Ume Tea is a boba tea shop filled with plushies and pink decor. Eastside residents may prefer Oak Tree Plaza Shopping Center, just across Covell Boulevard. Oak Tree Plaza also has a CVS, but its main grocer is a Nugget Markets, part of a family-owned chain. For locally grown and raised produce and meat, Davis Farmers Market is open every Saturday year-round in downtown Davis, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.An abundance of bike lanes and walking paths
State Route 113 (known locally as Highway 113) runs north-south on the neighborhood’s west side, leading 10 miles north to Woodland. Residents are only 4 miles from the closest Interstate 80 onramp; downtown Sacramento is 16 miles east on I-80. Davis prides itself on its wide availability of bike lanes, including greenways throughout North Davis. Unitrans buses travel less than 3 miles into Downtown Davis or 2 miles to University of California Davis, a major area employer. Yolobus operates local and intercity buses throughout Yolo County. Sutter Davis Hospital is just west of the neighborhood, on the other side of Highway 113. For out-of-state travel, Sacramento International Airport is about 20 miles away.Annual Zombie Bike Parade leading up to Halloween
Every year on the weekend before Halloween, Davis hosts a Zombie Bike Parade Festival, where locals can dress up in costume and ride along a bike loop circling the town. Other events during the weekend include block parties at local businesses and a Trunk-or-Treat Extravaganza, where families get together to hand out candy from parked cars.
