Logan Park is an arts neighborhood with studios and restaurants
Logan Park is an artsy neighborhood in northeast Minneapolis with a strong community spirit. Studios and galleries are found throughout the area, and so are highly regarded restaurants and breweries. Residents often live in pre-1925 homes and duplexes. People can walk and bike while running daily errands, and downtown attractions are a few miles away across the Mississippi River.

What people often pay for single-family homes and duplexes
The neighborhood has many single-family homes built before 1925 with Craftsman-style and Victorian influences. They usually sell between the mid-$200,000s and the upper $400,000s, but certain homes can reach the upper $700,000s. Like much of northeast Minneapolis, Logan Park also has duplexes that can run from the mid-$400,000s to the mid-$600,000s. Michael Gacek, a Realtor with Epique Realty and a former Logan Park resident, says some homeowners will buy a duplex and convert it into a single-family home, while others will rent out half the space. Around 65% of residents are renters who live in those duplexes and in apartment buildings. The community tends to be a bit more expensive than surrounding neighborhoods like Holland, Sheridan and Northeast Park.

What life in the walkable, artsy community is like
Logan Park is part of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District alongside Bottineau, Holland and Sheridan. Many artists live in the community for access to its studio space, but there are also families and people who want to be near the area’s renowned food and brewery scene. “It’s not a big neighborhood, but it’s packed with a lot,” Gacek says. People in the neighborhood often walk to restaurants, shops and galleries, especially along Northeast 15th Avenue. Bikes are also popular thanks to traffic-slowing measures like the roundabouts on 5th Street Northeast. There are industrial train tracks that run through the area, but Gacek says residents usually don’t mind the noise. “It adds a nice ambiance,” Gacek says.

The biggest annual event is Art-A-Whirl, the nation’s largest open-air artist studio tour. Over three days in May, more than 1,600 artists, galleries and businesses in the Arts District contribute to the event with exhibitions, live music, food and fun. Art Attack! is a smaller but similar event held each November at the Northrup King Building, the largest arts studio in the state.
